Tanya Gray - After the sudden passing of my daughter Hollie on September 1st, 2008, I knew that I needed to do something… I wanted a way to give back. Give even a little of what SickKids gave to my family. If I had questions and they didn’t know the answer, They stopped whatever they were doing and found someone that did. They explained everything that had to happen and why it had to happen.. They had sent condolence cards as well as a plant on the one-year anniversary of her death. SickKids cares is the end result.
On September 5th, 2008 240 pink balloons were release in front of the Roseneath Centennial Public School in honor of Hollie’s birthday. She turned 11. The Balloon release was the start of this project idea and a wonderful way to honor Hollie’s birthday.

Chris Pelletier – I have been friends with Scott and Tanya for over 20 years. I was there when both their children were born and have always felt like I was a part of their family. Hollie’s passing hit everyone hard and when Tanya said that she wanted to create the Living Pink Balloon I jumped at the chance to help. I wanted to do to do everything I in my power to help make it a success.
I am constantly amazed by the support of this community for the Living Pink Balloon. The fact that we surpassed our goal by 20 percent in our first year is a testament to how many people Hollie touched in her young life.

Kristy Barlow - I became involved with the Living Pink Balloon when my best friend lost her 10 year old daughter suddenly to a brain aneurysm almost 2 years ago.
The reasons that I became involved are I truly believe that there needs to be more research done to help those that are currently suffering from brain injury or trauma, and I believe that with enough research we could possibly save another family from having to suffer through the loss of a loved one.
